Bike Rental Central Park

When bicycling first started in Central Park in the 1880 it was only permitted between midnight and 9 a.m. Things have changed a great deal an now biking is a great way to take in the sites of Central Park. Most of the people cycling in Central Park are on a leisurely ride either alone or with a group of friends.

The park is closed to thru traffic Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again from 7p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Monday. When Central Park is open to traffic a bike lane is always available, but it is not advisable to use the drives when they are being used by traffic. Central Park is officially closed between the hours of 1a.m. and 6 a.m.

Park drives circle the entire park and provide three long distance routes. There are routes of 6.1 miles, 5.2 miles, and 1.7 miles. If you prefer a shorter route you can cross the park in many scenic locations. There are over 47 miles of paths and roads in the park. Central Park is home to both hilly and flat terrain, offering many choices for different skill levels.

Things to keep in mind are that cycling is prohibited on pathways and there is a law that all children under the age of 14 must wear a helmet. Always ride in a counter clockwise pattern around the park. There are also many great guided tours available to show you the sights located all around Central Park.
